Millions of people are bothered by the appearance of unsightly veins on their legs, face, and nose. There are three types of unsightly veins; the smallest being Spider Veins; slightly larger veins are called Reticular Veins; and the largest veins are called Varicose Veins. The factors that contribute to the development of these veins are:
- Weight Gain
- Prolonged Standing
Spider veins are tiny red or blue veins, usually about the size of a fine thread or slightly larger that may look like a spider or a web under the skin. These small, spider-like veins on the face and nose are called telangectasia. These veins are generally part of the aging process; the result of over exposure to the sun, hormones and/or genetics. These veins appear primarily on the legs or face and can be removed by two ways. The shallow and smaller veins can be removed by IPL- Intense Pulse Light; deeper and relatively larger veins by Nd:Yag Laser Treatment. Both heads are provided on the same platform of Lumenis One the state-of-the-art machine. Varicose veins are enlarged vessels that have widened as a result of weakness in the veins wall. The best technique to treat spider and reticular veins involves a special laser, which is very effective, non-invasive and relatively pain-free. At LaserPerfect Center of Queens we can treat varicose veins, though certain situations are best treated by a vascular surgeon.
Laser vein treatment is easy, fast, effective and pain free. The laser light destroys the unsighted vein without burning the skin above. The laser light is absorbed by the hemoglobin in the blood of the vein and is converted to heat which collapses the vein walls and thus blood flow is stopped. Over a period of a few weeks, the vein is reabsorbed by the body and disappears. Our staff is well trained to use the type of laser and proper setting for each size vein. You may feel a slight tingling sensation during the treatment, but it is easily tolerable. We recommend elevation of legs on the day of treatment and to wear tight elastic stockings to enhance the treatments success.
The risks with laser vein treatment are minimal and rarely pigment change may occur. These risks may be minimized by proper post treatment care and avoiding prolonged sun exposure to treated areas.
The new technology Nd:Yag laser, is designed to treat facial, leg, and spider veins quickly and effectively. It was designed to treat safely, minimize the number of treatments, and to reduce or eliminate any undesirable side effects.
